    • SmallTalk: Talking the Talk, The 2013 Loebner Prize Competition Time: 2:00p - 2:30p Location: Laughlin Auditorium Details:

      Speaker: Scott Weiss

      In 1950, Alan Turing proposed a game to help determine if a computer could think, now called the Turing Test. In 1990, Hugh Loebner established a $100,000 cash prize awarded to someone who designed a program to pass the test. In this talk, we’ll look at how the test works and how well this year’s competitors did.

      SmallTalk is an informal colloquium series on topics related to Mathematics and Computer Science. Talks are limited to 30 minutes. Refreshments provided by the Mount MAA and ACM Student Chapters.

    • Universal Self Arts Education Workshop: Kilusan Bautista Time: 7:30p - 8:30p Location: Cardinal William H. Keeler Dining Room Details:

      International Performance Artist, Humanitarian & Entrepreneur, Kilusan Bautista is an emerging voice for Diasporic communities raised within the Hip Hop Generation. Kilusan means movement in the Philippines and he was given this name in 1999 as a reminder to live as a conscious and caring global citizen. Originally from San Francisco, CA, and currently based in New York City, Kilusan combines the performance elements of theater, spoken word poetry, martial arts and interpretive movement.
