    • Small Talk: What's the real world application of this? Time: 3:00p - 3:30p Location: Coad 314 Details:
Bridging the gaps between the underlying, technical aspects of computation theory and real world applications sounds tricky. I took a course entitled Theory of Computation last semester that helped explain a bit of this trickiness. How can computation theory help us create a programming language or code a file indexer? Why do we still study the work of Alan Turing, who wrote his papers in the mid-20th century? This talk will focus on exploring some basic topics in computation theory and explaining why these topics are useful to us in practice.

SmallTalk is an informal colloquium series on topics related to Mathematics and Computer Science. Talks are limited to 30 minutes.
