Master of Science in Sport Management
The rapidly evolving and highly competitive sports industry requires professionals–agents, coaches, managers, media, event coordinators and others–with the skills to plan, manage, organize, budget, fundraise and market the complex organizations involved in sports, recreation and leisure. Mount St. Mary's University is the only university in the State of Maryland to offer a Master of Science in Sport Management (MSSM) out of the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business. The program is adaptable for both students wishing to begin a new job in the sports industry, as well as seasoned professionals looking to advance their current career.

Individuals wishing to apply for admission in the MSSM program should submit the following items:

Personal essay of 250 words: "Explain how this degree supports your long-term professional goals in the sport industry. Please tell us what you hope to gain and what you believe you will contribute to this experience."
Official undergraduate transcript(s)
Student must also demonstrate one of the following
Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher or
Five full years of relevant work experience (résumé required) or
500 minimum score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
Applications are reviewed and candidates are accepted on a rolling basis. Students are admitted for sessions beginning at any of six different entry points throughout the year. Provisional admission may be granted to students who do not meet all admission criteria–determined at the discretion of an authorized program representative.

The MSSM program focuses on leadership skills, business ethics and sport management in the areas of law, marketing and finance. The curriculum is comprised of 12 courses–18 credits in the sport management core, 12 credits in graduate level business, and 6 credits in an internship or master's project, for a total of 36 credits.
Classes are designed with the working adult in mind. Attend class once a week from 6-9:30 p.m. in a continuous cycle of 8-week courses. The MSSM program is offered exculsively at the Frederick Campus. MBA courses can be taken in both Frederick and Emmitsburg.
