Ring Tradition

For almost 100 years, Mount students have participated in the Ring Tradition, an experience that extends generations into both the past and future. Alumni proudly wear their rings as an outward symbol of their time at the Mount, their accomplishments, their memories and their Mountaineer pride.

The tradition begins every year in the fall, when the class ring is revealed and the junior class places orders. Students are then presented with these timeless symbols during a full Catholic mass, where the rings are blessed in the presence of family, friends and the Mount Community. That same evening, the junior class holds a Ring Dance to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Junior Ring Premier

May 3, 2017

At the Premier, the Class of 2019 ring design was unveiled and the ring is now available for purchase.

Throughout the course of the year, the Ring Committee worked to design a ring that is suited for their class.  One of the founding pillars of the Mount is Community and their hope is that the Class of 2019 ring design connects with each of their classmates on not only a personal level but a spiritual level as well.

"Through a survey, the Class of 2019 selected the motto AD MAIORA which translates to "towards greater things." In the center of the ring is Mary who is holding in her hands the phrase for our class. The symbolism here is actually quite beautiful. We cannot move towards greatness without the help of the blessed mother who helps guide and direct us towards Christ. In the Gospel Mary only speaks once throughout the whole book. She speaks at the Wedding Feast of Canna saying "Do whatever he tells you." Mary was chosen because we cannot move towards this greatness without the help of Mary."
