MSMU Agreement Provides AstraZeneca Employees With Tuition Reduction

Barbara MarinakFREDERICK, Md. (June 13, 2018) – Mount St. Mary’s University (MSMU) is announcing that it will provide AstraZeneca employees tuition reduction for programs at the MSMU Frederick Campus. AstraZeneca is a major employer in Frederick County and Montgomery County.

“Mount St. Mary’s University has proudly served adult students in the Frederick community for almost 20 years,” said Carol Z. Rinkoff, Ph.D., MSMU’s dean of Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies.  “We are honored to aid AstraZeneca in ensuring that their employees have the knowledge and skills needed for their current and future jobs and to help their employees continue their academic journey.”

Under the memorandum of understanding, employees of AstraZeneca and MedImmune, the global biologic research and development arm of AstraZeneca, will receive 20 percent off their tuition, starting with the Fall 2018 semester. The reduced tuition rate does not apply to supplies, books, fees, or other costs associated with a program.

“AstraZeneca is committed to supporting our employees in their personal and professional development,” said Mary Beth Leibig, head of people services for AstraZeneca’s Biologics Manufacturing Center in Frederick. “We appreciate Mount St. Mary’s making this benefit available to our employees.”

AstraZeneca employees will benefit from reduced tuition for undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration, criminal justice and human services; master’s degrees in biotechnology and management, business administration, health administration and sports management; and graduate certificates in quality assurance and regulatory science, project management, organizational development, government contracting, forensic accounting and fraud investigation, logistics and supply chain management and risk management and cybersecurity for professionals.
