The Mount is committed to a sustainable campus
In keeping with its responsibility as good stewards of our natural environment, Mount St. Mary's University is proud to be a leader in the use of renewable energy. The Mount is home to Maryland's largest solar project to date - a 17.4 megawatt system built on 100 acres of campus. Owned and operated by Constellation Energy, the farm consists of two systems - one providing energy directly to the grid, and the other providing power to the Mount's PNC Sports Complex.
The solar farm is just one way the Mount shows its commitment to environmental sustainability - here are a few facts about the Mount's green efforts:
• Geothermal heating and cooling systems in The Delaplaine Fine Arts Center and Powell Hall
• RecycleMania Competition collects thousands of pounds of recycled materials every year
• Student-led RATS (Recycle All That Stuff) event collects unwanted furniture, clothing and household appliances which are put up for sale or donated to Goodwill rather than being put in a dumpster
