Academics

The academic journey at Mount St. Mary's University combines our core curriculum, an integrated and sequenced series of rigorous liberal arts classes focused on building values based leadership, with a major and minor of your choice, to prepare our students for success in the modern world, while giving them a solid grounding in the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Core Curriculum

The Classroom Connection

Students are our highest priority and we challenge you to become your best self, both academically and personally. Professors empower students with critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills, which help you to navigate a rapidly changing world. Professors also serve as personal academic advisors, ensuring our students stay on track and have the resources necessary to be successful in the classroom and beyond.

Experience Matters

Our classroom experience is supplemented with practical experience that will help you find the right path to your future career – conducting scientific research, interning with world-class employers, volunteering for social justice causes, or studying abroad in foreign lands are all ways to put your classroom knowledge to use before you graduate.

Values Based Leadership

Over four years, our students participate in a variety of dialogues, exploring ideas, truth and faith; challenging convictions and embracing differences for the common good. In the end, students simply gain more: a greater sense of self, a personal standard of values and ethics, and the skills and experience to lead a life of integrity no matter where that life takes them.
