Service Abroad

Immerse yourself in an overseas adventure while helping those around you! The following overseas trips include community service.

Cusco, Peru

On this trip, service and culture are combined! A cultural trip with a community service aspect takes place every Fall break. Among the cultural sites to visit is Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. Students receive one credit. Open to anyone related to the Mount: employees, alumni, students and their parents.

Punta Gorda, Belize

A joint trip between the office of social justice and Outdoor Adventure, students journey to Central America, where they help construct churches in Mayan villages, work in Mayan schools, experience Mayan family homes and food, all the while experiencing the nature and scenery in this beautiful country. Activities such as caving, hiking, snorkeling, drumming and dancing are just a few of the adventures in store for those on this trip! No academic credits received for this trip. This trip will run during the summer (after graduation) of even years.

The remote volcanic island of Ometepe will be the setting for a trip to one of the most exciting and beautiful countries in Central America. As a joint trip between The office of social justice and Outdoor Adventure, participants will start the trip kayaking to monkey-filled islands, swimming in beautiful lagoons, and even hiking through cloud forests to a crater lake atop a volcano! The group will then immerse themselves in Nicaraguan culture as they work alongside locals building a community center in one of the most remote communities of Southern Nicaragua. This trip will run during the winter of odd years.
