Job Description:

The Director of Campus Activities and Student Leadership reports directly to the Dean of Students within the Student Affairs Division. The Office of Campus Activities encourages healthy lifestyles, student involvement, and an engaged campus community by offering programs that enhance their social, cultural, and developmental needs. This position supports the Dean of Students in oversight of the office of Campus Activities operations including: programming (on campus, off campus, activity center); staff training; risk management; and budgetary oversight. Additionally, the Director will work collaboratively with Admissions in order to increase enrollment and improve student retention. 

Responsibilities:

  1. To provide assistance to the Dean of Students in the management of the Student Affairs operations, including:
  • Preparing statistics and information for Director’s utilization in annual report
  • Communicating effectively with staff concerning pertinent divisional and University matters
  • Assisting in select programs and special events
  • Serve on University committee’s as warranted
  • Collaborate with other offices throughout the university in running programs that assist all areas in meeting the University’s mission
  1. To design, plan, implement, manage, and oversee all Campus Activities programming (off campus programs, on campus programs, activity center, and AMP leadership development)

On and Off Campus Programs

  • Work with student leaders to plan and implement open enrollment weekend activity trips and shuttles for the campus community
  • Work with student leaders to plan and implement on campus weekend activities
  • Active involvement in planning and implementing campus wide special events

Activity Center

  • Coordinate registrations and information dissemination, and, oversee discount ticket sales
  • Provide oversight for student clubs and organizations

Student Government

  • Develop and manage appropriate processes related to SGA registered student organizations
  1.  To oversee and implement standardized training for all student staff
  • Actively involved in the staff selection process
  • Directly train staff or select appropriate personnel to conduct training
  • Supervise and make decisions on staff’s ability and suitability for particular positions
  • Maintain direct knowledge as well as a written log of each staff members professional development
  1.  To maintain the highest industry standards in risk management
  • Select and evaluate all possible service providers
  • Serve as on site event manager for high profile events
  • Collaborate with Public Safety to ensure all safety and security concerns are addressed
  • Comply with local, state, federal laws as appropriate and secure permits when necessary
  1. To directly manage and oversee the operational budget for Campus Activities
  • Determine budgetary needs, submissions, and justifications for budget lines
  • Maintain daily fiscal records and accountability
  1. Other duties as assigned
  • Supervise collection of funds for all services

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with Master’s degree preferred. Experience in campus activities and/or event planning with exposure at the college level preferred; Experience with multiple skill sets desired: sound and lighting, trip leading, experiential training, facilitation, late night operations; Additionally, administrative capacity requires: computer skills, solid written and oral skills, and ability to multitask. Active in professional organizations is a plus.

Salary:

This is a full-time position with full benefits and annual, holiday, and sick leave. Salary is contingent upon experience.
