Director of Graduate and Adult Business Programs/Assistant Professor

The Director of Graduate and Adult Business Programs is responsible for the recruitment, retention, and success of students and faculty in the Master of Business Administration (MBA, including graduate certificate programs), Master of Health Administration (MHA), and adult undergraduate business and accounting programs.  The Director is also responsible for the ongoing evaluation of curriculum and adjunct faculty teaching in the graduate and adult business programs. The Director will be located at Mount St. Mary’s University Frederick campus.  This is a non-tenure track position with a rank of Assistant Professor for a successful candidate with an earned doctorate.  This is a twelve month position which reports directly to the Dean of the Division of Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies and indirectly to the Dean of the Richard J. Bolte Sr. School of Business.   

MAJOR DUTES:

1.Participates in recruitment efforts to promote the graduate and adult undergraduate business programs including face to face (such as corporate visits, open houses/info sessions) as well as online outreach

2.Responsible for contributing to development and implementation of an annual graduate and adult undergraduate business marketing plan as well as overseeing the development and production of marketing materials and web pages in conjunction with the Office of Communications

3.Supports and collaborates with the Assistant Director of Graduate Programs: identifying target  students and working with students through the recruitment process including prospecting and handling inquiries

4.Supports and collaborates with the Assistant Director of Graduate Programs who manages the admissions process including but not limited to: reviewing applications and transcripts and directing the appropriate admissions procedure (i.e. admit, provisional admit, decline) as well as maintaining enrollment data

5.Supports Assistant Director of Graduate Programs with student advisement as needed

6.Responsible for achieving enrollment goals for the MBA, graduate certificates, MHA and adult undergraduate business programs as determined by the Provost, Dean for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies, and Dean of the Bolte School

7.Teaches a minimum of 2 three-credit courses per year

8.Serves as the Frederick campus liaison to the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business.

9.Attends Bolte School meetings, Frederick team meetings, faculty meetings or other school functions as appropriate

10.Tracks student progress and success by maintaining student files in coordination with the registrar’s office

11.Recruits, hires and mentors MBA, graduate certificate, MHA, and adult undergraduate business faculty.

12.Reviews programs syllabi to assure they meet University and Bolte School standards

13.Oversees student and faculty engagement in the classroom and learning management system settings

14.Conducts classroom observations for adjunct faculty

15.Prepares course schedules in coordination with the Assistant Director for Graduate Programs

16.Reviews student course evaluations and takes measures when necessary to address comments (both positive and negative)

17.Maintains active dialogue with the faculty, Dean of the Bolte School, and Dean for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies in support of the Frederick campus business programs

18.Maintains dialogue and relationships with the professional community to both evaluate and support the Frederick campus business programs

19.Coordinates assessment of Frederick campus business programs for student learning outcomes

20.Evaluates the Frederick campus business programs for efficiency, effectiveness and growth potential

21.Assembles Frederick campus business programs data for the University’s Annual Report and the IACBE Annual Report

22.Pursues ongoing personal professional development activities

23.Oversees the related sections of the University Catalog in coordination with the Dean for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies  and the Dean of the Bolte School

24.Other duties as assigned

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The Director of Graduate and Adult Business Programs reports directly to the Dean for Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies and indirectly to the Dean of the Richard J. Bolte Sr. School of Business. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s degree in Business or a related field.  An earned doctorate is strongly preferred. Three years’ experience in a higher educational environment preferred.  Excellent written and oral skills.
