St. Bernadette Shoppe Clerk-Part Time

Work Hours: Part Time: 20 hours/week


The St. Bernadette Shoppe Clerk has primary accountability to assist in driving revenue, increasing business, delivering the highest level of customer experience and ensuring that the store is operated in a manner to advance the goals of the University and the specific mission of the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. 



  1. Drive retail growth and assist in maintaining operations with Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS), point of sale (POS) system
  2. Process daily online store fulfillment
  3. Follow checklist for opening and closing store
  • Maintain appropriate cash levels in cash drawer, turn in all property monies and receipts, and ensure deposits/cash drops are verified
  1. Restock items as necessary
  • Ensure stockroom procedures are met
  • Stocks shelves, counters or tables with merchandise; set up displays with staff according to Manager directives.
  • Display merchandise in a neat, eye appealing manner.
  1. Process receiving and checking in inventory daily
  • Print labels and tag prices on merchandise
  1. Secure shop and monitor guest activity to prevent losses due to merchandise theft and damage
  • Report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to Assistant/Manager.
  1. Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
  2. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  3. Reach, bend, twist, pull and stoop; move, lift, or carry objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds; stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time

Customer Service

  1. Welcome and acknowledge all guests when they enter the store
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  1. Offer assistance in locating merchandise and respond to questions regarding merchandise.
  • Create excitement and show passion for the product by communicating relevant information to guests; answers questions about product features and benefits
  1. Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.


Perform other duties assigned by the St. Bernadette’s Shoppe Manager and Assistant Manager.


The Shoppe Clerk directly reports to the St. Bernadette’s Shoppe Manager at the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes; however, can be directed by Assistant Manager when primary manager on duty.


Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in retail sales and marketing. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays based on the needs of the St. Bernadette’s Shoppe. The store is opened seven days a week with the exception of winter hours in January and February (weekends only).

• Strong computer skills
• In depth knowledge of Roman Catholic Institution, with its cultures and structure, and activities
