Visitor Relations Grounds Associate-Part Time

Minimum Pay Rate:  $10.10/hour
Works Hours: Part Time - 20 hours per week: Saturday/Sunday 6 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Visitor Relations Grounds Associate oversees and enhances the outdoor, day-to-day, visitor hospitality efforts; and provides a safe and clean environment to further advance the visitor’s experience at the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

MAJOR TASKS:

Grounds:

  • Assures daily opening of the facilities, grounds, candles while maintaining the peace and serenity
  • Maintains safety of golf carts and wheelchairs
  • Period programming of bell tower/ upkeep for the seasons
  • Maintain all benches and statues on Grotto Grounds
  • Assures weekly laundry is delivered
  • Maintain National Shrine Grotto Water System
  • Collect garbage on grounds

Events/Scheduled Groups:

  • Fulfill visitor requests for pilgrimages, dedications, weddings, Masses, visits, funerals, etc.
  • Manage and track group, retreat and wedding registrations and develop post-event summary reports
  • Process event-related invoices and manage event budgets; track related monthly event expenses; generate/distribute management reports; prepare event proposals that include budget information and estimates
  • Implement event set ups and tear downs, audio-visual needs, and speaker logistical planning

MINOR TASK: Perform other duties assigned by the Operations Manager.

POSITION AUTHORITY: This position directly reports to the Operations Manager. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in higher education or nonprofit environment preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and flexibility in stressful, deadline driven situations
  • Resourcefulness, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work both independently, and as part of a team with results-oriented approach
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to be persistent in tasks
  • Ability to give substantial feedback on given responsibilities

In-depth knowledge of Roman Catholic Institution, with its cultures and structure, and activities
