Paula Whetsel-Ribeau, Ph.D.

Paula Whetsel-Ribeau, Ph.D., is the Associate Provost for Diversity and Assessment. In this role, she provides leadership enhancing the Mount's efforts in building an inclusive, welcoming, academic community for all students, faculty and staff. She also works with the President's Office in advancing the Mount's profile in the Mid-Atlantic region, through active participation with government offices, foundations and professional associations.

Before joining the Mount, Dr. Whetsel-Ribeau worked at Howard University, in Washington, D.C., serving as the Executive Director of the Alternative Spring Break Program; Founder and Chair of the Howard University - Women As Change Agents initiative; and was a faculty member in the Afro-American Studies Department. She has also served as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and an Education instructor at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Dr. Whetsel-Ribeau has served on numerous community boards in the past, and was appointed by the U.S. Department of Education to the National Board for the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education. She is a member of many professional organizations and has been involved in numerous community service activities, both locally and nationally.

Dr. Whetsel-Ribeau, holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Bowling Green State University, a master's degree from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, and a Doctorate in Leadership Studies, also from Bowling Green - where she graduated with academic distinction. She is married to Dr. Sidney A. Ribeau, the former President at Howard University. They are the proud parents of three children.
