Mount Traditions

Each year the Office of Campus Activities sponsors several events that have become Mount traditions. Generations of Mount alums share stories from these events - whether they from the Tiki Dance on opening weekend, to their class ring design, to the Christmas or Homecoming dances.

Ring TraditionMale Mount ring - class of 2016

For almost 100 years, Mount students have participated in the Ring Tradition. Each class chooses their own design so every class ring is unique to that year. Junior students are presented their rings at the annual Ring Mass and wear them as a reminder of the goal of graduation. Alumni proudly wear their rings as an outward symbol of their time at the Mount, their accomplishments, their memories and their Mountaineer pride.

The tradition begins every year in the spring, when the class ring is revealed and the sophomore class places orders. Students are presented with these timeless symbols the fall of their junior year during a full Catholic mass, where the rings are blessed in the presence of family, friends and the Mount Community. That same evening, the junior class celebrates this momentous occasion with a semi-formal Ring Dance.

Order Rings Online
Eligible students and alumni can purchase a ring online at simply search for “Mount St. Mary’s University” and select the appropriate class year in the “Rings” section.
