Set up a mock-interview with a career counselor to learn tips on how to present yourself.
Interviewing can be stressful. It is important to prepare for all of the questions a potential employer may ask, and to know yourself well enough to provide an honest and compelling argument for why you are the best candidate for the position.
The Career Center offers tips for interviewing and mock-interview sessions that can make the process a lot easier.
Here are some tips from the professionals:
Dress for success.
Be prepared. Research the company you are interviewing with through that company's website.
Practice, practice, practice! Sit down with a career counselor, or a friend for a mock-interview. Ask the typical questions and see how you would answer.
Anticipate some of the typical interview questions and prepare for how you may like to respond.
Tell us a little about yourself.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Why do you want to work for this company?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
Why should I hire you?
Ask questions. Prepare a list of questions you would like to have answered, if they do not cover all of the topics, ask!
