Courses will cover current trends in education, principles of school leadership and administration, and strategic planning and leadership to name just a few. In curriculum design, implementation and assessment, you'll explore how educational content is developed and evaluated in response to political, social, economic, legal and cultural contexts. Courses will also guide you through other topics such as managing school finances, educational policy and school law, and improving instruction through supervision.
Lastly, you'll complete a full-year leadership practicum, which focuses on the day-to-day needs that arise within a school, as well as build a portfolio that reflects your experience related to relevant national and state leadership standards.
Most classes are offered in an eight-week format so that you can balance your career with coursework. Upon program completion, you will be eligible for administrator I or administrator II certification from the Maryland State Department of Education.
Master of Education study tracks also include concentrations in reading and instructional design and technology.
