At Mount St. Mary’s University’s Physician Assistant Program, hands-on learning starts on day one. Ultrasound is embedded into the curriculum from the first semester, giving students weekly access to Butterfly handheld ultrasound devices during the didactic year. This early, consistent exposure helps students build confidence and integrate point-of-care ultrasound into their clinical workflow. By the time students begin rotations, they’re prepared to confidently use ultrasound in real clinical settings—ready to assess, interpret, and deliver proactive, patient-centered care.
