Cybersecurity relies on a variety of skills from an infrastructure level understanding of computer to networks and security topics. The Mount’s graduate certificate in risk management and cybersecurity was designed with working professionals in mind – especially those without an educational background in advanced technology.
The graduate certificate in risk management and cybersecurity is part of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Our goal as a department is to graduate women and men that are uniquely equipped to provide scientific perspective and solutions to the complex problems facing humanity.
Start your free applicationThe risk management and cybersecurity post-baccalaureate certificate is designed for individuals with non-technical bachelor’s degrees who have the desire to transition into cybersecurity careers. We meet you where you are, and help you bridge the gap to move toward your desired career goal by providing you with the needed pre-requisite skills.
You’ll begin your program by gaining an understanding of the integration between computer architecture, operating systems and application programs, along with network concepts, foundations of the internet and risks associated with connectivity.
Mount professors will discuss practical topics such as keeping individual computers safe while online and ensuring email is secure. Courses will also cover Risk Management Framework elements, how to keep networked computer systems safe and topics such as DNS servers, secure network configuration and disaster and backup recovery.

With our accelerated course delivery you’ll complete the certificate with a capstone project that demonstrates the skills and tools you’ve learned as it applies to your career in as quickly as one year.
Curriculum delivery is designed to be flexible for the busy adult with heavy reliance on online elements, while still providing you with a support structure to build your confidence in technical material. Each course is sequenced to build on the knowledge and skills of the preceding course, and also designed to move from an initial in-person structure with the first course to a fully online curriculum with the capstone course.

Students enrolled on at least half-time basis (6-credits per semester) may qualify for financial aid. You may seek financial assistance through federal and state-funded programs, private loan providers, or deferment of undergraduate loans. The Mount also has a variety of employer tuition remission or reimbursement agreements with local businesses and community colleges, so you may just get a discount from your employer or previous college. GRADUATE STUDENT FINANCIAL AIDClasses for the certificate begin at various times of the year including January and August, so submitting your application six weeks before your expected start date ensures a priority application decision. There is no application fee.
Students must meet the requirements of the certificate program to be considered for admission.
