The health science / nursing program is part of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Our goal as a department is to graduate women and men that are uniquely equipped to provide scientific perspective and solutions to the complex problems facing humanity.
Learn about the School of Natural Science and MathematicsThe Mount’s health science and nursing dual degree program is designed to prepare you for admission into one of our partner institutions to finalize your bachelor’s degree and pursue a nursing degree.
While at the Mount, you’ll build a foundation in scientific topics such as anatomy, physiology, statistics and lifespan development. Equally as important, you’ll study courses in ethics, philosophy
The second phase of this program focuses on nursing-specific coursework at one of the Mount’s partner institutions – either the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) located in downtown Baltimore or in Montgomery County, Maryland, or Shenandoah University (SU) located in Winchester, Virginia.
Some topics you’ll find in each program cover pharmacology, mental health
After completion of the dual degree program, you’ll earn a Bachelor of Science degree in health science and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and will be qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to obtain licensure as a registered nurse.
