Doctors of osteopathic medicine strive to make sure that trend doesn’t continue as they work with the individual on a holistic health care plan – and the Mount’s osteopathic medicine dual degree program can provide the education to pursue a career helping people become and stay healthy.
The osteopathic medicine 4/4 dual degree program is part of the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. Our goal as a department is to graduate women and men that are uniquely equipped to provide scientific perspective and solutions to the complex problems facing humanity.

The osteopathic medicine dual degree program allows you to earn your bachelor’s degree from the Mount in three or four years and go directly on to earn a doctoral degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) during the next four years.
While at the Mount, you’ll study biology, genetics, general and organic chemistry, physics and psychology. At LECOM, you’ll enroll in one of five different pathways based on your chosen career focus and learning style.

I was unsure if I would be able to get into medical school. However, with guidance from my professors, I applied to the Mount St. Mary’s University/Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine 4+4 program. In three weeks and one medical school interview later, I was accepted. Now I will accomplish my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.
