How could changes in the pharmaceutical drug patent process affect both businesses and individuals? And to what extent do a city’s zoning laws impact its ability to develop affordable housing? Questions and topics such as these are what people in the law profession encounter, using their knowledge and experience for building persuasive arguments to seek an outcome.
The pre-law program is an interdisciplinary program which spans each of our schools and divisions.
Where there is the potential for debate or conflict, the need for law is present. The Mount’s pre-law program is designed to help you discover the many ways a background in law can be applied to your career and prepare you for success in your pursuit.
Through the program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about intellectual property, tax, civil, criminal and corporate law, as well as environmental, entertainment, housing, health care, international and real estate law – and how to make a positive impact in those fields.

Through preparation in the pre-law program, your career options are nearly limitless. In addition to working with major law firms, opportunities exist for those with a law background at nonprofits, financial institutions, government agencies, corporations, consulting groups and private practice.
Through the Pre-Law to Juris Doctor program, you can begin your career path into law at the Mount and gain direct admission into the Juris Doctor program at The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law through a special affiliate agreement. This 3/3 program can be completed in a total of six years rather than the standard seven.
