About the Program

The Mount's online elementary education program integrates our core liberal arts with technical and managerial skills required to promote learning in the classroom and on an individual level. In this program you will learn not only how to teach topics such as language arts, social studies, mathematics and science in grade 1-6, but how to plan effective lessons and methods of assessment. Your experience culminates with an internship experience through which you can practically apply everything you have learned.

The program holds a Certificate of Distinction from the International Reading Association for the quality preparation in reading instruction. This Maryland Approved Program meets certification requirements in other states. Students are advised, however, to consult certification requirements in states of interest early in their study.

You’ll also receive one-on-one advising and a customized degree plan from our dedicated faculty who are committed to your success.
