About the Program

Mount St. Mary’s synchronous and asynchronous online Master of Science in Sport Management program is part of the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business. The Bolte School has an impeccable reputation for producing successful business leaders, and the faculty shares a commitment to ensuring that you receive the knowledge, experience, and insight to leave the Mount as a responsible, methodologically sound, and ethical business professional.

The Mount’s online Master of Science in sport management program connects you experiential learning in small classes while accessing the kind of big opportunities you can only find at a Division I school. MSSM students can gain internship, mentorship, and career preparation opportunities through our alumni network of more than 3,000 sport industry professionals. Plus, the Mount offers students a large amount of flexibility in choosing their required internship. Graduates pursue careers as agents, managers, media, marketers, event coordinators and more.

As a student in the program, you will have:

  • Access to distinguished internships. Mount students have interned with the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Nationals, EA Sports, Maryland State Golf Association, Lax Factory, Frederick Keys, YMCA, Maryland United FC, and DC Fray in recent years.
  • Connections to industry influencers. Network regularly with members of the sport management advisory board. Members are representatives of Maryland Stadium Authority, Under Armour, Monumental Sports & Entertainment, and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
  • Business focused curriculum. The Mount’s degree doesn’t only offer classes in sport marketing, law, and event and facility management – we also offer an extensive business curriculum including research, statistics, economics, and finance.

Students can also earn a post-baccalaureate certificate with the addition of just two classes. This gives you a certificate at considerable savings. Certificates that you can take for this savings include:

Affordability & Financial Aid

  • 2023-24 tuition rates effective July 1, 2023 - $25,200 – Estimated total cost of program tuition.* No additional fees. Cost is based on 36 credits (twelve (12) classes) at $700 per credit.
  • 2024-25 tuition rates effective July 1, 2024 - $25,560 – Estimated total cost of program tuition.* No additional fees. Cost is based on 36 credits (twelve (12) classes) at $710 per credit.
  • Students may transfer in up to nine (9) credits.
  • Employees of partnership organizations will receive 20% tuition discount for all credit-bearing courses.
  • Peregrine Academic Services prerequisite courses may be needed based on transcript analysis at $44 per course.
  • No application fee.

Financial Aid

Students enrolled on at least half-time basis (6-credits per semester) may qualify for financial aid. You may seek financial assistance through federal and state-funded programs, private loan providers, or deferment of undergraduate loans. The Mount also has a variety of employer tuition remission or reimbursement agreements with local businesses and community colleges, so you may just get a discount from your employer or previous college. Admissions & Application

Admissions Requirements

The MSSM is designed for individuals who completed a bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited four-year institution.

Additionally, students must demonstrate one of the following:

  • Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher or;
  • Five full years of relevant work experience or;
  • 500 minimum score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

Application Requirements

  • Classes begin: January, March, May, July, August, October
  • Admissions Deadline: Two weeks prior to the session start date
  • Priority Application Deadline: Four weeks prior to the start of the first course
  • No application fee
  • Optional GMAT
