Mount St. Mary's University is proud to partner with Barnes and Noble College and the First Day® Complete Program, known to Mount students as Emmit's Book Pack.

Emmit's Book Pack gives you access to all of your course materials, no need to shop around! Beginning with the Fall 2022 semester, you'll be able to:

  • Bundle the cost of materials such as textbooks and lab manuals into your tuition and fees at a flat rate.
  • Receive all your course materials before the first day of class.
  • Save 35-50% on the cost of course materials each term.
  • Benefit from a highly personalized concierge service.

How it Works

  1. Register for Classes - Upon registering for courses, you will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you've successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order.
  2. Verify Your Order - Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email from your Mount email account to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference.
  3. Receive Your Textbooks - An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within your school's LMS.

What is the First Day® Complete program (aka Emmit's Book Pack)?

First Day® Complete, known to Mount students as Emmit's Book Pack, is a course materials fulfillment program that lowers the cost of course materials and ensures students have their required course materials on the first day of class.

How does it work?

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you).
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within LMS.

How do I enroll in Emmit's Book Pack?

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in Emmit's Book Pack in Fall & Spring terms only.

How do I opt out of or opt back into Emmit's Book Pack?

Students may opt out of Emmit's Book Pack. Start here to begin the opt out or opt in process. Opt out will be open 30 days before the start of the Fall and Spring terms and will close the Friday at the end of the second week of classes for Fall and Spring terms.

Students must be logged into their Mount email in order to initiate the opt-out process using the link above.

Which students have access to Emmit's Book Pack?

Undergraduate students (accelerated / adult undergraduate, graduate and seminary students are excluded).

What is excluded from the program?

The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kids, engineering kits or nursing kits.

What if I have an accelerated undergraduate class added to my schedule?

No problem! Confirm your materials for all of the classes you can see in your confirmation email and then stop by the bookstore in person and work with a manager to obtain your course materials for your accelerated class through Emmit's Book Pack.

How do I pay for my textbook rentals under this program?

All textbooks (hardback & softback) are considered rentals under this program and are billed as a fee for the course. These fees are applied to your final bill. When your bill is paid in full, you are paying for your rental textbooks under this program.

What is included in the program?

The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

Can I buy my rented textbook?

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

Do I need to return books if they are for a continuation course?

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

What happens if I do not return the books by the due date?

In the event a student does not return rental materials, Barnes & Noble College reserves the right to require student payment of an appropriate rental replacement fee (75% of the new course material selling price) and/or identify the student ineligible for the Complete Program in future semesters.

When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore?

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their email address.
