Eligiblity Requirements
Transfer students and Division I scholarship athletes are not eligible for this scholarship.
^Student and parent contributor(s) must have their permanent, primary residence in Maryland, and must have held legal Maryland residency for at least one year prior to enrollment to qualify.
^^Proof of residency and/or income is required to be provided upon request, and may include: student and parent Federal Income Tax returns, a copy of Maryland driver's license(s), or a mortgage statement.

After you're admitted and the financial aid office has your FAFSA on file, you'll receive a financial aid package showing how your merit scholarship and other institutional awards combine to bring your annual tuition cost down to $12,500. This guarantees your out-of-pocket tuition cost will not exceed $12,500.
Yes, students should expect to pay for housing, meal plans, student service fees, books, and course fees. A complete explanation of additional costs may be found on our Tuition and Fees page.
Yes! As long as your family income remains under $125,000 and you maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, your Maryland Tuition Promise renews for four years. Students must file the FAFSA no later than the March 1 financial aid renewal deadline each year.
Annual tuition increases will be no more than $1,500 per year as long as requirements to maintain the Maryland Tuition Promise are met.
Yes! Any outside scholarships you receive may be applied to your institutional costs.
First-year students enrolling in the fall of 2027 will be the first class eligible to receive the Maryland Tuition Promise.
