Accepted Graduate Students

Congratulations on your admission to your graduate program at Mount St. Mary’s University. We are excited to have you as a student and encourage you to use the resources and tools below to help start your academic journey!

New Student Checklist

  • Access your student account and login to your student email and MyMount
  • Read through the Student Resource and Orientation Module
  • Set up an advising appointment with your program director
  • Register for classes
  • Log in to Canvas
  • Buy your textbooks
  • Request your Mount student ID card
  • Pay for classes

Log in to your Mount email

Your Mount email address, username, and password are emailed to you 2-3 business days after completing the Admission's Enrollment Decision Form. The same username and password will log you in to all of the Mount's online tools. All communication from professors and the university will be through your Mount email account, so it is essential to closely monitor your Mount email.

Log in to MyMount

From the icon on the inside.msmary.edu or directly via mymount.msmary.edu. Your MyMount username will be the first part of your Mount email. For example, if your email address was “emmit.s.burg@email.msmary.edu” then your MyMount username would be “emmit.s.burg” and your MyMount password is the same as your Mount email password. You can find more detailed instructions including screenshots here: Login to MyMount If you have difficulty with this process, contact the ITSC Help Desk at itsc@msmary.edu.

Read through the online Graduate Student Resource and Orientation Tool

Log in to your MyMount account and access the Student Resource and Orientation Module located under the Student Resources tab. This section will be available to you throughout your time at the Mount and provides helpful information.

Register for Classes

After reviewing your degree plan and checking out the class schedule, you can register for your classes online through your MyMount account on the Registration tab. Course schedules are posted on the Registrar's Office page. Please follow the easy step-by-step instructions on how to register on the MyMount training page. If you need any assistance with this, please reach out to your program director.

Log in to your Canvas account

The Mount’s learning management system used for your classwork is called Canvas. Canvas is a tool that instructors use during each course to facilitate communication with and among the students in the course. It is not the official system for student records - that is MyMount. You can find your syllabus in Canvas, your grades as you progress through the course, and your instructor may also post important announcements, assignments, discussion boards, and more. Make sure you review each of your courses in Canvas a week or two before it begins, and check Canvas regularly while you are enrolled in the course.

Buy your textbooks

Go to the Mount’s bookstore and use the “textbooks” tab to find the textbooks needed for your courses.

Request your Mount student ID card

You will need your Mount ID card to access the Frederick campus building, as it is a secure facility. You can also use your Mount ID card to access sporting events, access the library and check out books, and buy meals on the main campus. Learn more about requesting your Mount card and uploading your photo.

Pay for classes

You can pay for classes through MyMount. Payment arrangements must be made by the first week of class. Contact the Accounting & Finance Office at 301-447-5353 or email acctsrec@msmary.edu with any questions about your bill or paying online. If you applied for financial aid, please reach out to the Financial Aid office at finaid@msmary.edu or at 301-447-5207.

Come to campus

If your classes are held at the Frederick campus, you will need your Mount student ID card to enter the building. Parking is free at the Frederick campus. If you are attending classes at the Emmitsburg campus or using any of the student services at the Emmitsburg campus, you will need to either register your vehicle with Public Safety or use the visitor parking space.

Again, congratulations on your acceptance and this exciting start to your new academic journey! And welcome to the Mount!
