National Alumni Association Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee

Overall purpose of the National Alumni Association (NAA) Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee is to develop best practices for building diverse leadership pipelines for the NAA and engage with the Mount’s diverse alumni to create a more welcoming and inclusive culture.

Objectives:

  • Develop best practices for building diverse leadership pipelines for the NAA and current MSMU Student Body.
  • Develop ways to engage the Mount’s diverse young alumni and older alumni, including building alumni-to-student connections.
  • Develop ways to engage in efforts to create a more inclusive and welcoming alumni community, especially having alumni of color returning to campus and regional functions.
  • Provide an opportunity to propose additional ways to strengthen a sense of belonging at the Mount.
  • Provide leadership on the development of diversity and inclusion strategies in existing alumni programming.
  • Leverage all forms of diversity to strengthen the alumni network.

Bruté Award

The Simon Bruté Award is presented by the Mount St. Mary’s National Alumni Association to a graduate who has rendered outstanding and meritorious service to the Church, state, nation and our fellow citizens.  The medal is presented at the traditional Alumni Reunion Banquet.

It is the highest honor awarded by the Association to a Mountaineer.

Hall of Fame

Established in 1971 by the National Alumni Association, the Mount St. Mary’s Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes annually former athletes who “have exhibited athletic prowess of an outstanding nature in an intercollegiate sport.”

Distinguished Young Alumni Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a young alumnus/a, who, through hard work, perseverance and education have reached a high level of achievement in their chosen professions.  The award also honors graduates who have brought honor and distinction to their Alma Mater by their success, interest and support of the Mount through the National Alumni Association.  This award is to be presented at the Hall of Fame Brunch during Winter Homecoming.
