Choose from volunteer opportunities in four communities:

Academic and Professional Development Community

The Academic and Professional Development Community advances student success by aligning internship referrals with student skills and geographic goals and strengthening affinity based connections between students and alumni. The community also fosters a lifelong community of support by engaging alumni in mentoring, networking, and career development initiatives that help graduates navigate and succeed in the post-graduation world.

Volunteer opportunities in the academic and Professional Development Community Include:

  • Attend an on-Campus Career Event: Career events take place throughout the year at all different times of the day and representing all different industries. Career events range from etiquette dinners, to resume workshops. The specific dates and times of the different career events will be shared throughout the year after you register.
  • Represent your Organization at an on-Campus Career Fair: Many Mount alumni often remark that they received their first jobs from employers that attended on campus Career Fairs. Career Fairs occur on campus throughout the year.
  • Offer an Internship to a Current Student at your Company: Is your company looking for interns? Work directly with the Career Center to learn how Mount students can support the efforts at your organization.
  • Classroom Guest Speaker: You may remember from your time at the Mount that faculty love to welcome alumni back into the classroom to discuss their professional journey or research with their class. By selecting this initiative, we will connect you with a current faculty member to determine a day/time for you to meet with their class.

Admissions Community

The Admissions Community strengthens undergraduate recruitment and yield by providing inclusive, high impact events and interactive programs, like post card writing that highlight the diverse affinity groups, industry perspectives, and successful outcomes of Mount alumni to prospective students. Volunteer opportunities in the Admissions Community Include:

  • Attend an on-Campus Admissions Event: The Admissions Team offers several opportunities throughout the year for prospective students to come to campus and get a glimpse into life at the Mount. Alumni play a key role in welcoming students and their families to campus and in sharing their Mount experience. You can expect to be on campus for a half day for these events. The dates will be shared after you register.
  • Write Postcards: Receiving a postcard from an alum is a great way to show prospective students how connected our alumni remain. In December, you will receive 15-20 postcards along with information about each student you are writing to. Once you are done writing your postcards, you will send them directly back to the Mount. This is a great opportunity to volunteer on your own time and at your own pace!
  • Attend a High School Visit: The Admissions Team spends several months of the year traveling to high schools in the Mid-Atlantic region to promote the Mount. Some Admissions Counselors may even be visiting your high school. Join the visit to offer your alumni perspective to future Mount students. Visits last approximately 30 minutes to an hour. An admissions representative will reach out to coordinate the day and time of your visit with you after you register.
  • Host your own Recruitment Event: Alumni are invited to open their homes, workplaces, or favorite local spaces to welcome prospective students and families for an informal opportunity to connect, ask questions, and learn more about the Mount. Please provide the name of your event space and capacity. Traditionally, these events host 25-50 people (prospective students and their families, as well as alumni). Examples of past regional event locations include restaurants, homes with large gathering spaces, and even Top Golf!

Athletics Community

The Athletics Community strengthens athletic alumni engagement and school spirit by enhancing the fan experience on campus and regionally and supporting sport specific affinity groups. It works to celebrate athletic excellence, build community, and promote meaningful connections between alumni and the institution’s athletic programs. Volunteer opportunities in the Athletic Community Include:

  • Host a Regional Watch Party: Help cheer on Mount athletes in your area! Volunteer to help plan a regional game watch or pregame social and connect with fellow alumni, friends, and fans while cheering on the Mount. The Alumni Office will support your event by sending a swag package filled with Mount-branded goodies to help make your gathering special.

Faith, Service, and Mission Community

The Faith, Mission, and Service Committee fosters meaningful alumni engagement by coordinating national Alumni Service Day events, strengthening connections with the Daughters of Charity, and supporting initiatives related to the Seminary, Grotto, and other spiritual spaces. This Volunteer Community also nurtures the faith journey of alumni and current students by creating opportunities for spiritual growth, service, and connection to the Mount’s mission and traditions. Volunteer Opportunities in the Faith, Mission, and Service Community Include:

  • Ox Day: On November 19, 1805, Father John Dubois gathered around 50 neighbors and friends on Mary's Mountain to prepare the ground for what would become the first church and, ultimately, the Mount itself. The Chapel on the Hill would serve our community for more than 100 years and once stood where the golden statue of Mary stands today. Join a team that assist with the on campus and regional planning of prayer, work, fellowship, and reflection on Ox Day, Sunday, November 22, 2026.
  • Wreaths Across America: Wreaths Across America, held on Saturday, December 19, 2026 is a day dedicated to remembering fallen U.S. veterans, honoring those who serve, and teaching children the value of freedom. Volunteer to coordinate an alumni gathering at a cemetery near you and participate in laying wreaths on veterans' graves. Learn more about Wreaths Across America.
