The Mount St. Mary's men's rugby club was established in 1973. Following a National Championship in 2016 in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO), the Mount moved to DI-AA and the Chesapeake Collegiate Rugby Conference (CCRC).

Email Coach MylesIn its first season, the Mount finished second overall in the conference and qualified for the playoffs. In its second season, the Mount took a rebuilding team with over 20 freshmen and closely missed the playoffs. In 2016, the Mount attended the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) 7s tournament and placed second overall in the Philadelphia division. The following year, the Mount won the Philadelphia division and qualified for the DI bracket in 2018.
Mount rugby also prides itself in community service, having volunteered at children's homes, children's hospitals, and locally with organizations such as The American Red Cross.
Since 2014, Mount St. Mary's University head men's rugby coach Jay Myles has focused on developing the team into a more cohesive unit and building a strong reputation. Myles’ coaching staff has implemented team weightlifting sessions, more structured practices, discipline and dedication to the team and a focus on community service.
Myles’ players are committed to honing their rugby skills. For several years the entire team has benefited from the professional, international coaching staff of Global Rugby Group, led by Neil Tunnah.
