It’s a busy week of Mount hoops. Here are the upcoming basketball games for this week:
In the event of inclement weather, communications will be advertised if a change occurs.
All undergraduates are invited to experience their next semester in Ireland. Dublin is a vibrant city filled with culture, history, and music, and it could be your new Mount home!
The semester in Dublin includes two weekend trips (to Galway and the Ring of Kerry) plus many unique learning and living opportunities. If interested, contact Dr. Mike Miller (Philosophy) at mimiller@msmary.edu and attend the information meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 2 in Library 102. Study abroad. Stay on budget. Experience something you will never forget!
Mount Softball would like to give you the opportunity to send a Valentine to someone on campus! Send flowers and a chocolate bar to your campus Valentine:
Recipients will receive an email to pick up their Valentine at Patriot Hall on Friday, February 13. If you would like to leave a personal message, please fill out this form, and it will accompany your Valentine.

We hope that your semester has started well! The Esports program will be holding tryouts for our teams next week, January 26-31. If you're interested, please fill out this form. We have varsity teams in Smash Bros, Valorant, Overwatch, and Rocket League. Beyond our varsity teams, we're always open to starting new teams if there is enough student interest, so please fill out the form with your interests even if you don't compete in any of those games. We also welcome players of all skill levels and work to create multiple rosters for the games that we support so that students who are just starting to think about competitive play still have a place where they can learn and improve.
The Human Resources and Community Engagement Office is excited to announce the full lineup of remaining Sacred Spaces and Campus Places tours. Each month, we invite you to step “behind the scenes” for an educational and inspiring look at spaces that shape our daily life at the Mount. These experiences will highlight each location’s history, significance for our community, and deep connection to our mission and vision.
Registration is now open for all remaining tours for the spring semester. Advanced registration is encouraged, as space may be limited: Spring 2026 Registration Form
By joining these tours, you’ll not only see familiar spaces in a new light—you’ll also gain insight into how they support our colleagues, enrich student formation, and contribute to the Mount’s mission. Together, let’s uncover the stories that connect us more deeply to one another and to our university.
Welcome Back, Mount Students! Over the break, residence halls were inspected with the Frederick County Fire Marshal. You may find a Notice of Violation door hanger in your room. These are non-disciplinary warnings intended to help keep you safe. However, repeated violations can lead to disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct.
The most common issue we found was improper use of power strips, such as daisy chaining (plugging one strip into another) or plugging appliances like mini fridges into extension cords. These practices are among the leading causes of fires in college housing. We corrected many of these during inspections.
Other violations included open-flame candles, smoking, vaping and related paraphernalia. These are strictly prohibited in Mount St. Mary’s residence halls. Also, remember that tampering with smoke detectors, sprinklers, or other life safety equipment is illegal and can result in serious consequences. This includes deliberately activating a false fire alarm or using an emergency exit during normal, safe, routine activities.
We encourage everyone to review our fire safety video and help us keep everyone safe. Let’s all Be Mount Safe!
