Shuttles this semester will rotate weekly between Gettysburg and Thurmont. This Sunday’s shuttle is heading to Thurmont. Shuttles run continuously from noon – 5 p.m. to the Weis Markets in Thurmont. Last shuttle leaves the Mount at 4 p.m. Students can catch the shuttle at the John Paul Plaza outside of McGowan Center.

The next workshop this semester in the Transforming the Mount professional development certificate program for employees will be MM 103: Mary, Spes Nostra: Operating a National Shrine at the Mount. Facilitated by Dawn Walsh, it will be offered on Thursday, February 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in O’Hara Dining Room and by Zoom. This workshop counts toward the Mission and Ministry track, and is for Mount employees only.
This workshop introduces Mount employees to the unique presence of the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes as part of our campus. We will explore the daily mission, outreach, and operations of the Grotto. Participants will gain a clearer sense of what it means for the Mount to host a national shrine and how this sacred space enriches our community, as we welcome hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year. We will also touch on why Marian devotion is an important part of the Catholic faith tradition.

The Center for Student Engagement has reserved several bays for students at Topgolf (Germantown, MD). A registration fee of $15.00 is required for this event, which covers transportation, two hours of game play at Topgolf, and light refreshments. Pre-registration is required for this event. This event is for Mount students only and the number of available spots for students is limited; students will be able to register on a first-come, first-served basis. Reminder: if you are returning to the Mount next year (26-27) you may complete the FAFSA for 2026-2027 by logging into studentaid.gov with your FSA ID. Be sure that Mount St. Mary’s University school code, 002086, is listed on your FAFSA. FAFSAs take three days to process before we will receive the information.
Only one person needs to start the FAFSA, and as a part of the process can invite another to be a contributor. When the other contributor receives the invitation, they can then complete their part. Once your FAFSA is processed, the student will receive an email letting them know that the information has been sent to the schools listed and that they can view the FAFSA submission summary by logging onto studentaid.gov.
For Maryland students, it is imperative that you complete your FAFSA prior to the end of February. Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) awards state funds based on FAFSA data, and the FAFSA must be to them by March 1. When you complete the FAFSA, MHEC will also receive your FAFSA and then will review it for aid.
Think you have what it takes to solve a crime? The Criminal Justice Student Association invites you to participate in our upcoming Crime Scene Investigation Challenge. Students will form teams of their choice and investigate a mock crime scene inspired by a real case from the Pennsylvania State Police. Teams will be provided with training to analyze and gather evidence and apply critical thinking skills to solve the crime. The challenge will be judged by professional crime scene investigators, and the winning team will receive a prize. Whether you’re studying criminal justice or simply enjoy problem-solving and true crime, this is a unique opportunity to experience what real-world crime scene investigation looks like.
