The Discourse Society is a campus club that discusses current political and social issues in a non-threatening, no-shouting, no interrupting, and no insults environment. The club has rules to allow free conversation for individuals who feel intimidated by social and political topics. Each week, a topic is chosen for discussion the following meeting.
The topic for the first meeting is “Immigration and the Uncertain Future of Birthright Citizenship.”
The discussion will be held Tuesday night March 31 in KAC 107 starting at 7 p.m. Interested students should contact club president Rhoda Simms at r.g.simms@email.msmary.edu.
Please note: the club is for students only. In order to keep the conversation open and free for students, faculty and others are respectfully asked not to join. Another meeting will be held on April 14. Please watch the Mount Messenger for information.

The Entrepreneurship Club is hosting the Loiello Pitch Competition and is looking for students with business ideas, side hustles or startup concepts to participate. This is a great opportunity to pitch your idea, gain feedback from experienced professionals, and compete for over $5,000 in prizes ($7,500 total prize pool). You do not need a fully developed business—just an idea and the willingness to present it. The competition will take place on Monday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Academic Center, Room 327. All students must register by April 13 to participate. Once registration closes, participants will receive an email with additional details, including competition rules, how prize money will be allocated, and information about the judging panel. This is a great chance to bring your ideas to life, build confidence presenting, and potentially win funding to support your concept. Register for the competition.
