About the program.

The Master of Education with a concentration in technology facilitation program is designed to prepare you to serve as a technology facilitator in a K-12 setting for an individual school or entire district, as well as provide professional development for teachers and school administrators.

The program will cover current trends in education, the role of distance education, and integrating technology in teaching and learning. Course material will guide you through how to create effective digital age learning environments to support teachers in developing instruction that is active, constructive and reflective to maximize learning for all students. You'll also learn how to plan and deliver research-based professional development workshops, prepare a technology plan, engage in facilities planning, and address issues of security, along with legal and ethical uses of technology.

Lastly, you'll complete a practicum where you'll partner with an experienced technology facilitator or specialist and engage in the daily tasks associated with using technology to enhance student learning.

With a Master of Education with a concentration in technology facilitation, you can pursue positions as a technology facilitator at public or private school districts or individual schools.

The acclaimed M.Ed. program is also recognized for:

  • Classes designed for working adults. Attend evening classes at our Frederick campus on a part-time or full-time basis.
  • Accreditation by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

M.Ed. study tracks also include concentrations in reading and instructional leadership.

Students may seek financial assistance through federal and state-funded programs, private loan providers, employer tuition remission or reimbursement.

Admissions requirements

The Master of Education program is for certified teachers who hold a bachelor's degree in education. Admissions requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in education with a minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Current valid teaching certification
  • Prerequisite courses may be required
