About FamilyFest

FamilyFest is the perfect event for families to visit and celebrate their student. In addition to the Family Fun Zone, murder mystery dinner and various athletic events, we'll also have a performance by world-famous magician Ben Seidman!

Join us during the weekend of September 13-15, 2019, for one of the Mount's greatest traditions!

Highlights of FamilyFest include the BBQ lunch and festival on Founder's Plaza complete with live music, a Family Fun Zone, faculty speakers and sporting events.

Schedule of Events

Friday, September 13

2-4:30 p.m. / Parent Leadership Council Meeting

Location – TBD.

3-6 p.m. / Registration / Check-in

Location – Main Lobby, McGowan Center. All event tickets will be available. Stop by for an updated schedule; all pre-ordered event tickets will be available.

4:30-6 p.m. / Parent Leadership Social

Location – TBD.

Dinner on Your Own

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant (we recommend you make your reservation soon) or remain on campus and dine with the students in Patriot Hall for a' la carte dining. Students can use their meal plan.

9 p.m.-midnight / Campus Ministry Septemberfest

Location – Campus Activities Center. Join members of our Campus Ministry team for fellowship and hospitality. This is a student-led event. All families are welcome to join students for this annual fall event.

Saturday, September 14 - morning - afternoon

9 a.m. / Mass

Location – Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

9:30 a.m. / University Honors Program Welcome & Awards Breakfast

Location – Phillips Library (by invitation).

10 a.m.-3 p.m. / Registration / Check-in

Location – Main Lobby, McGowan Center. All event tickets will be available, stop by to get an updated schedule. There are a LIMITED number of tickets available to our ticketed events; tickets will be sold on a "first-come, first-served" basis.

The Balfour Ring Company will be available for ring sizing for the Class of 2020 rings. This is the final day of ordering for The Class of 2021 Ring Mass delivery.

11 a.m. / Parent Address – Mount Briefing

Location –Delaplaine Fine Arts Center. We welcome and encourage all families to join Mount St. Mary's University President Timothy E. Trainor, Ph.D., to talk about the Mount today and in the future.

11 a.m. / Women's Rugby

Location – Echo Field.

Noon-4 p.m. / Family Fun Carnival Zone / Lunch

Location – Patriot Hall, Founder's Plaza. Choice of a' la carte lunch on your own. Patriot Hall will have a delicious array of lunchtime options for purchase - or you can visit a food truck to purchase your lunch. You can enjoy your lunch choice inside in Patriot Hall or outdoors in the picnic area. The picnic area is open to all - no matter where you purchase your food!

Noon / Student Musical Society Performance / Mount Theatre Performance

Location – TBD.

1-3 p.m. / Hike to Indian Lookout

Location – Meet at the McGowan Center, Lower Level. After seeing the beauty of our campus, come along for a two-mile (up and back) hike to the top of Mary's Mountain to take in the view from Indian Lookout! There is NO pre-registration! For safety reasons, space is limited to the first 60 hikers (first-come, first-served). Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water! Approximately two hours.

1-3 p.m. / Community Meet and Greet

Location – Beer Garden.

1-4 p.m. / Beer Garden

Location – TBD. Cash bar.

2 p.m. / Career Center Open House

Location – McGowan Center. Visit the Career Center located on the second floor of the McGowan Center to mingle with staff and see what opportunities and resources are available to our students!

2 p.m. / Men's Rugby vs. NC State

Location – Echo Field. Food, drinks are available through Rugby’s Tri Club!

3-4 p.m. / Mount Parent Legacy Society

Location – Beer Garden. Join us to reconnect and tell stories of “when you were at the Mount.” One of the Mount's best traditions is back this year - only at FamilyFest! All legacy families are welcome to attend! The legacy photo will be taken in front of the university sign at 3:45 p.m.

4:30 p.m. / Mass

Location – Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

Saturday, September 14 – evening

6 p.m. / Murder Mystery Dinner Theater – Return of Rock N Roley

Location – Patriot Hall. $25 per person. Pre-registration required due to limited seating.

7 p.m. / Men's Soccer vs. Navy

Location – Waldron Family Stadium. Join us at Waldron Family Stadium to cheer on our men's soccer team!

8 p.m. / Headline Entertainment – Magician & illusionist, Ben Seidman

Location – Knott Auditorium. A performance by magician & illusionist, Ben Seidman who guest stars on the Netflix Original Brainchild produced by Pharrell. He appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us on the CW network and starred in two specials on Travel Channel. He was the highest-rated performer for Princess Cruises and won the title Entertainer of the Year. $10 per person. Pre-registration is required, limited seating.

8:30-11:30 p.m. / Student and Parents Dance Party Featuring Dueling Pianos

Location – Campus Activities Center. You will hear music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or current, rap, country or rock and roll. Anything you can imagine, they can perform. You are sure to enjoy this interactive and entertaining show that will thoroughly involve all participants throughout the entire event. Be prepared to laugh, clap, sing, dance and love every minute of the show! Soft drinks & snacks will be provided. Cash Bar available to the 21+ crowd.

Sunday, September 15

8 a.m. / Breakfast in Patriot Hall
