The next workshop in the Transforming the Mount certificate program will be MM 104: Our Mission in Action: Living Our Call to Serve. Facilitated by Francis Lukban, it will be offered on Tuesday, March 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in O’Hara Dining Room and by Zoom. This workshop counts toward the Mission and Ministry track, and is for Mount employees only.
This workshop aims to provide an articulation of how all of us are called to live out the mission of the Mount in service. We will explore how we can live out this call in ways that are distinct to all of us and inclusive of our backgrounds. Service is central to who we are as an institution, and we'll work through what service means in the context of local place, relationality, and as rooted in and motivated by Catholic Social Teaching. We'll also explore our tradition of service and how we can look to exemplars of those who have lived out this call.
Register at least one (1) week in advance to receive a meal. You can use the same registration link to sign up for other professional development workshops offered this Spring.
The Entrepreneurship Club is excited to welcome Mount alumnus Mr. Bill Wittland, C’74, as our upcoming guest speaker on March 10 at 1 p.m. in Knott AC 323. A graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in philosophy, Bill began his professional journey serving ten years as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. He later pivoted into the business world, building a dynamic career as a writer, agency partner, executive leader and design consultant.
In this engaging session, Bill will reflect on the foundational ideas that began at the Mount and shaped his unique path—exploring the intersection of faith and knowledge, art and science, strategy and spontaneity, and the power of place and perspective. His story highlights how critical thinking, purpose, and adaptability can guide meaningful career transitions and long-term success.
This event is a Business School Professional Development Point opportunity and is open to all students interested in leadership, entrepreneurship and purposeful career growth. Join us for an inspiring conversation on how Mount values can influence both business and life.

The presentation will analyze examples of the theme in literature and conclude with reflections on the role of liberal arts in today’s culture.
Held twice a year, the Ducharme Series fosters the integration of learning between different fields in the Mount’s core curriculum. The series is named in honor of Professor Emeritus Robert Ducharme, Ph.D., who advanced the Mount’s mission for 39 years as an English professor and department chair. The Ducharme Lectures are endowed with a generous gift by Raphael Della Ratta, C’92, who was an English major and philosophy minor at the Mount.
